Marco E. Benalcázar earned a PhD in Electronic Engineering at the Universidad Nacional de Mar del Plata in Argentina. Currently, he is an associate professor and researcher in the Department of Informatics and Computer Science at the Escuela Politécnica Nacional. He is also director of the Artificial Intelligence and Computers Vision Research lab the Escuela Politécnica Nacional. He has directed several research projects on fundamentals and applications of artificial intelligence for medical image processing and hand gesture recognition. He has published more than 30 articles in scientific conferences and journals on topics related to theory and applications of artificial intelligence and machine learning. He has 10 years of experience working in these areas. He is also a scientific disseminator and a consultant in the area of artificial intelligence.
